Baldy Mountain Forest Reserve bush camping

Camping is only permitted in various locations throughout Baldy Mountain Forest Reserve. Minimal impact camping guidelines must be followed and restrictions apply—see park-specific conditions for details.

Dogs are not permitted to camp overnight in the forest reserve.

Camping permits are required and fees apply. A camping tag with your booking number must be displayed at your camp site.

Camping is not permitted in Herberton Range National Park, Herberton Range Conservation Park and Herberton Range State Forest.

Bush camping

Features: camp sites are not defined. Select your own camp site according to the park-specific conditions.

Location: throughout Baldy Mountain Forest Reserve. Vehicle-based campers must select sites adjacent to established roads.

Access: camp sites can be reached by four-wheel-drive vehicle, trail-bike, mountain bike and on foot. Roads are not accessible for caravans, buses and motorhomes.

Number of sites: no designated or numbered sites. Vehicle-based campers must camp adjacent to formed roads (except the Herberton Range ridge road as camping is not permitted adjacent to this road).

Camp sites are suitable for: tent camping beside your car and walk-in camping.

Camp site surface: dirt.

Facilities: none.

Open fires: prohibited. Fuel stoves are recommended.

Generators: prohibited.

Essentials to bring: drinking water, rubbish bags and insect repellent. Read more about things to know before you go.

Bookings: book online, over-the-counter or by phone. Bookings may be made up to three months in advance.

Mobile phone coverage: poor.
