Planned burn operations in Hinchinbrook Island National Park

This alert applies to the following parks:

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service will be conducting a planned burn on Hinchinbrook Island National Park commencing on Wednesday 18th July 2018. The fire will be in the Nina Bay Lowlands and Nina Peak highlands area. Smoke will likely be seen for several days as the fire burns slowly around the hills on the north-east side of the island.

The Thorsborne Trail will be closed on Wednesday 18th July and reopen Thursday morning 19th July. QPWS Rangers will be on site to transfer hikers around the affected section of track if required. Nina Bay camping area will be closed 18 July 2018.

All other camping and day use areas will remain open and will not be affected by the fire.
