Planned burn operations in Hinchinbrook Island National Park

This alert applies to the following parks:

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service will be conducting a planned burn on Hinchinbrook Island National Park commencing on Wednesday 18th July 2018. The fire will be in the Nina Bay lowlands and Nina Peak highlands area. Smoke will likely be seen for several days as the fire burns slowly around the hills on the north-east side of the island.

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service will be conducting a planned burn that will affect the Thorsborne Trail. The section of trail between south Ramsay Bay and Little Ramsay Bay will be closed Wednesday 18th July and reopen Thursday morning 19th July. QPWS Rangers will be present to advise hikers about fire operations and transfer hikers around the affected section of trail by boat if required. QPWS apologises for any inconvenience.
