Planned Burn Parklands Conservation Park

This alert applies to the following parks:

The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) will be undertaking planned burns within the Parklands Conservation Park over the coming month June to July 2018, weather permitting. The planned burns are part of the annual hazard reduction/conservation management program for parks and forests. The aim of these burns is to reduce the volume of forest fuels and to create a mosaic pattern of burnt and unburnt areas within the park. This will help reduce the intensity of any subsequent wildfires and provide favourable conditions for natural forest regeneration.

As a result smoke may be seen in the areas surrounding Nambour, Valdora and the Maroochy River. Smoke can decrease visibility on the roads so it is important that motorists drive safely to the conditions. Some areas of the park will be closed to the public during these events.

For more information, please call the Tewantin office of QPWS on 07 54703400.
