Planned Burn Noosa National Park

This alert applies to the following parks:

The Department of Natural Resources Mines and Energy (DNRME) and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) will be conducting planned burn activities within the East Weyba section of Noosa National Park during the month of June 2018, weather permitting. Some areas of the park will be closed to the public during the burning activity. The planned burn is part of the annual hazard reduction/conservation management program for parks and forests and borders Cormorant Cres Peregian Beach. As a result smoke may be seen in the areas surrounding Marcus Beach, Peregian Beach and Peregian Springs.

The aim of this burn is to reduce the volume of forest fuels and to create a mosaic pattern of burnt and unburnt areas. This will help to reduce the intensity of any subsequent wildfires.

Smoke can decrease visibility on the roads so it is important that motorists drive safely to the conditions.

For more information, please call the Tewantin office of QPWS on 07 54703400.
