Planned burns at Noosa National Park

This alert applies to the following parks:

The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) will be undertaking planned burns within Noosa National Park during the May to July period, weather permitting as part of the annual hazard reduction/conservation management program for parks and forests. Some areas will be closed to public access during the burning activity. As a result, smoke may be seen in the Noosa, Lake Weyba, Doonan, Sunshine Beach, Marcus Beach and Peregian Beach areas. The aim of these burns are to reduce the volume of forest fuels and to create a mosaic pattern of burnt and unburnt areas within the park. This will help reduce the intensity of any subsequent wildfires and provide favourable conditions for natural forest regeneration.
