Planned burn - Minerva Hills National Park

This alert applies to the following parks:

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) will be conducting planned burn operations between Monday 12 February to Monday 12 March, 2018 as part of the annual hazard reduction/conservation management program for parks and forests.

These burns are being undertaken to help protect life and property in the event of a wildfire.

Smoke may be seen from the vicinity of the township of Springsure including Tambo Road, Gregory Highway and the Dawson Highway. Persons with respiratory or other health problems should seek medical advice on mitigating the effects of smoke inhalation.

During the planned burn these areas will be closed to public access:

  • Dendle Scenic Drive within Minerva Hills National Park
  • Minerva Hills National Parks including all walking tracks, lookouts and day-use facilities.

Observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers, and do not enter closed areas.Commercial tour operators and other permit or agreement holders are not permitted to enter closed areas.
