Cooloola Great Walk closure
This alert applies to the following parks:
As a result of severe weather damage, parts of the Cooloola Great Walk are temporarily closed until declared safe. Bookings for all Cooloola Great Walk campsites are currently restricted until 6 May 2017.
The closure and booking restriction affects:
- The Cooloola Great Walk from Poona Lake to Harry’s Hut.
- All Cooloola Great Walk walkers’ campsites.
The following short or day walks will remain open: to Carlo Sandblow, Double Island Point, Poona Lake, Freshwater Lake, Harry's Hut, Mill Point, Kinaba and Fig Tree Point.
QPWS rangers are currently working on repairs. Observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers, and do not enter closed areas.
All permits for closed areas are suspended for the duration of the closure. To apply for a refund, contact camping support at firstname.lastname@example.org. Commercial tour operators and other permit or agreement holders are not permitted to enter closed areas.
