Mon Repos Turtle Encounter Tours closed due to end of season

This alert applies to the following parks:

Mon Repos Turtle Encounter Tours closed on Sunday 19 March 2017, due to the low number of nests left on the beach to emerge. Tours will recommence in November, with bookings opening on 1 September 2017.

Mon Repos beach is a critical rookery for endangered loggerhead turtles. To protect remaining nests public access to the beach is prohibited between 6pm to 6am until 30 April 2017.

  • Park users may need to plan their trip to visit the beach outside of closure hours.
  • Help protect turtle hatchlings by staying off the dunes and only using beach umbrellas below the high tide mark.

QPWS appreciates your cooperation in this important conservation initiative to prevent disturbance of hatching marine turtles.
