Fire Prohibition, Inskip Peninsula Recreation Area

This alert applies to the following parks:

Until further notice, open fires must not be lit anywhere in Inskip Peninsula Recreation Area.

Open fires are defined as: wood fires that are not fully self-contained, including open campfires and fires in braziers, drums, or other open containers, and QPWS supplied fire-rings and barbeques.

The fire prohibition is in place due to increasing high fire danger conditions. It will remain in place until the risk of wildfire moderates.

Permitted cooking and heating appliances include fuel stoves using manufactured fuels (e.g. LPG, hexamine fuel blocks, briquettes or heat beads).

Appliances must be:

  • off the ground (recommended minimum height 200mm) and should not result in ash or coal deposit on the ground
  • fully self-contained (e.g. 'Ozpig' heating appliance)
  • well away from vegetation.

Contravention of this prohibition is an offence under the Recreation Areas Management Act 2006. A maximum penalty of 165 penalty units applies. The on-the-spot penalty is $609.

Your cooperation in the protection of people, property and wildlife is appreciated.
