2017–18 budget highlights

The 2017–18 NPSR budget delivers a number of initiatives to protect and manage our parks and forests; support and encourage active participation in physical activity; and support the Queensland racing industry.

Highlights in the budget include:

  • $15 million to enhance infrastructure and nature based tourism opportunities in national parks
  • $2.8 million to improve and upgrade facilities in the Daisy Hill Koala Bushland area
  • $5.7 million for redevelopment of the Mon Repos Turtle Centre
  • $965,000 for moorings to improve tourism and recreation use of the Great Barrier Reef
  • $39.5 million under the Get Playing and Get Playing Plus programs to help Queenslanders become involved in sport and active recreation
  • $4.9 million to deliver quality sport and recreation opportunities in Indigenous communities
  • $10.8 million to work with industry and key partners to enhance statewide capabilities and deliver quality sport and recreation services and increase participation
  • $6 million for the Country Racing Support Program to support country racing.
