FIRE BAN for coastal islands in Moreton Bay

This alert applies to the following parks:

A Local Fire Ban has been declared by the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services from Friday 15th September to Monday 2nd October 2017 due to the forecast fire conditions and risk of wildfires in coastal islands off Brisbane.

This ban includes the following islands and any protected areas of:

  • North Stradbroke Island
  • Moreton Island
  • Russell Island
  • Macleay Island
  • Lamb Island
  • Karragarra Island
  • Peel Island, and
  • Coochiemudlo Island

These islands form part of the local government areas of:

  • Brisbane City Council and
  • Redland City Council.

Protected areas including all national parks, conservation parks and recreation areas on these islands are covered under this ban.

Lighting of fires is prohibited on the above listed islands and protected areas including all camping areas.

This fire ban will be in place for 14 days from 0001hrs Friday 15th September to 2359hrs on Monday 2nd October.
